Beware of Career Risks of ‘Quiet Quitting’
Important Career Advice: Nervous executives, many worried about preserving their bonuses, are already planning for layoffs. Their angst may be premature since some of the typical recession indicators are not flashing red, but that said it is always a bad idea to get between an executive and his bonus. So we are advising our clients to be prepared: Better safe than sorry.” In addition, we have a portfolio of job search courses to help you become the job applicant everyone wants to hire if the worse does come to pass. If you take this course you qualify for significant savings if you need additional job search support.
Quiet quitting refers to employees doing what their job expects of them, and not doing more than what they get paid to do.
- First, Gen Z and millennials are right. Workers are getting screwed. Productivity is through the roof — 61.8 percent since 1979 while hourly pay has risen only 17.5. Clearly, the rising tide is not lifting all boats. So quiet quitting, on its face, seems more than justified.
- Point two is a cautionary note: the great resignation is over. As the economy slows, managers will be looking to cut costs. If you are seen as someone who will only do the minimum, that could be what pushes you to the layoff list. In today’s economy, being undervalued is better than a meager severance and inadequate unemployment.

What does it take to achieve and sustain a work-life balance?
Work-life balance is not a cockamamie theory of quiet quitting, a three or four-day work week, a standard for the time you can spend with your friends, or even laws regulating when you can receive work emails.
One work-life balance concept is advanced by brilliant former advertising thought leader, Gay Gaddis of Austin.
You cannot find happiness at work if are unhappy in your personal life.
You cannot find happiness in your personal life if you are unhappy at work, where you spend 75 percent of your waking hours.
Simply, you need to be with someone who lights up your life and to do work that is fulfilling and brings you great joy
Balance is the operative word.

When it comes to whether you should include your address at the top of your resume, here is a solid rule of thumb:
It depends on the job and who will be receiving your resume.
For hourly and management positions, companies increasingly are using internal recruiters.
Ninety-nine percent of Fortune 500 companies and a large number of the remaining potential employers rely on ATS technology, internally or through a third-party vendor, to screen and rank resumes.
Some companies require you to complete an application with an online submission. Unless the online application requires an address, do not include it on your resume.
If you are applying for an executive-level position directly to a search consultant, the standard is to include your address. If you are applying online, include the information the employer requested.
