Here are four truths we all need to revisit:
- Even using every industry keyword known to man you will beat the bots less than 50 percent of the time. Your odds of winning a job applying online are 150 to one.

Why Do Job Applicants Fail?
Why do job applicants fail? This was a theme of our first live Interviewing Course.
There is a multitude of reasons, and many relate to the job interview. Let’s look at the top three:
- Botched the first interview. In case you do not know, the first interview is your resume. The three most common failings are using a generic resume, failure to communicate value, and a lack of quantifiable achievements.
- Misguided priorities. Applicants think the recruitment process is about them, not about meeting the needs of the employer
- Poor preparation. Studies report this is a common complaint among recruiters. Applicants do not sell their value. They just answer questions.

Job Interview: Don’t Mail It In
In a competitive job market, with multiple layers of applicant screening, you cannot afford to mail it in.
At every step, you must deliver an exceptional performance, not with competent responses to the questions, but with an engaging narrative – information and stories that will captivate the interest of the interview team.
You are not just communicating information – you are excited to share the challenges and benefits of the success. You want to think like a writer constructing an intriguing business short story
At 11:30 AM Central Time today, we begin our three-part course on interviewing. We will explore the five types of interviews and outline strategies to help you excel in each venue. It is not too late to sign up. Visit JohnGSelf.Com

Do you know how many job applicants who believed they nailed the interview won a job offer?
Not that many.
It is hard to define success when you struggle to define what you must do to succeed.
Answering questions in a competent manner is not the definition of a good interview.
A successful job interview is when an applicant summarizes their experience and accomplishments with illustrations and stories that support their values, ideas, and abilities, and doing it in a way that is engaging, fostering likeability and trust.
The biggest problem most people have is nervousness. Nervousness occurs when applicants are not adequately prepared.
