If there is a better example of comfort zone dysfunction, I am not sure what it is.  You are recruiting a talented executive.  They show up unprepared for a comprehensive job interview.  They make an absolute dumpster fire mess.  They mumble and stumble without providing a compelling reason they should be hired. 

During the elimination call, you spend 45 minutes providing feedback and free coaching.

Ten months later you give them another chance. 

Same result.

They know what it takes to succeed, but they won’t do it.

A common excuse: I am just not comfortable selling myself.
