Hare three key facts regarding your resume:

  1. It does not have to be pretty.  The ATS system scanning your resume does not care. In fact, if you get too fancy – bold colors, multiple columns, – the ATS scanner may get confused which could result in your resume being eliminated.
  2. The resume is the first interview.  Here is the irony:  you will not be there, and a recruiter will not be there. Only the computer scanner.
  3. If a resume writer claims they can beat the ATS bots, or that they will optimize for keywords, run don’t walk away. That may be what you want to hear, but the resume you submit must be specific to the job you are applying for.

Technology and processes are rapidly evolving. You must be up to date to succeed.
