Here are three common mistakes that job seekers make that prolong their search.
1. Failure to establish a daily routine. Your daily routine will define your level of success in life. This is especially true with your job search. On Sunday, develop a plan for the upcoming week. Your plan should include the must-dos for your search, including networking. More on that in a moment.
2. Failure to generate engagement with new and existing contacts in the form of daily posts. Focus first on LinkedIn and then other social media sites including Instagram. This is essential to elevate your visibility for recruiters, 92 percent of whom use LinkedIn every week.
3. Failure to expand your network. Limiting your weekly networking to people you already know is a waste of time. Branch out. Connect with people who work in organizations where you would like to work. Waiting to be discovered is a bad strategy.
