Do you know the difference between job seekers and politicians?
Their choice of words.
One group routinely uses words or phrases like:
I promise
My honor
Integrity
You can count on me
You can trust me
Unfortunately, it is not from job applicants when we hear those words.
If you are in searching for irony, consider this: companies, today more than ever, are desperate to find employees who can successfully perform the work and whose daily behavior reflects their integrity, honor, commitment to truth, responsibility, and personal accountability.
In my 27-plus years as a global executive recruiter, I cannot recall when an administrative job applicant used any of these words, especially, you can trust me, you can count on me, or I promise.
If I were a job applicant today with the skills and track record, I would see an excellent opportunity to differentiate my brand in an interview.
