Should you test the market for a better job with better pay and benefits?
Absolutely. There are more jobs available than people interested in applying, so the odds of finding a good position with more money and better benefits are in your favor for now. That is why the Great Resignation continues and, in all likelihood, will continue through the next two to three quarters.
Now, for those misguided souls who think this Great Resignation is about people not wanting to work, opting for some sort of government unemployment gold mine, think again. Many of the 4-plus million workers who have resigned already have new, better-paying jobs.
For those employers who are digging in their heels to avoid paying your workers more, you pursue that folly of a strategy at your peril. Your good employees are not going to accept the status quo. Nor should they.
