Today we are going to talk about “About.” That is, the purpose of the About section of your LinkedIn profile or webpage.
It is the most crucial element of your profile. Here is why: There are a whole host of people who are as qualified as you, with comparable experience and a similar record of accomplishment as you. So it is this “About” section that allows you to differentiate yourself from your competitors. You DO NOT do that by regurgitating the history of your experience, especially the “where” and “when” part. We have your resume for that.

In the About section, you explain how you are different from everyone else who is in the same field as you. This is where you explain your value and how it is beneficial to prospective employers or even customers.
Remember, this is not about you. It is about meeting the needs of others. Tell them a compelling story about your value in “About.”
