This is not the first time you have heard this rant, but guess what, it is so bloody important that I am making another attempt to get your attention. Ready? One of the biggest mistakes job applicants make is failing to prepare for the interview.
Good grief, we are lucky if they have done a little research on the employer. Applicants show up for the interview and just answer questions; they don’t offer interesting stories, try to sell their skills, or promote their successes. Clearly, they have not thought ahead about how they want to highlight their abilities or their successes. It is crazy!
Put it this way, how many of you think Procter & Gamble, one of the most respected brand managers in consumer products, would invest time and money to bring a product to market without rehearsing its message to the customers. Anybody?
