This is Part Two regarding those tough gnarly career-minded conversations couples should, but rarely have, BEFORE they say I do.
For generations, society’s norms dictated that wives followed their husband’s careers.
Some careers are easily transferable from city to city, but not all. A husband with a good job that is geographically based may find relocation tough or impossible when it comes to sustaining their career. But what happens when the wife gets an offer to be a senior executive with a major corporation – high six figures with stock options, her ABSOLUTE dream job, something she has worked for all her life, but her husband says no, he won’t move.
In an era of two-career families some of the worst career decisions I have ever seen revolved around issues that should have been resolved before the organ began playing the ‘Here Comes the Bride.’
