Critics of hospital management are fond of saying that our industry trails other business sectors in management technology, processes and leadership innovation by at least 10 years.
While there may be truth in those charges, I rise on this July 4th in support of my industry. Healthcare in the U.S. leads the world in developing innovative clinical diagnostics. We may have serious problems with safety and quality but we DO run on the metric system. The vast majority of other businesses in the U.S. do not.
There are only three nations in the world that HAVE NOT converted to the metric system: the United States, Liberia and Myanmar.
