John G. Self has more than 30 years of leadership, executive search and business development business in several healthcare sectors where he has achieved an impressive record of accomplishment.

His career path to the healthcare industry was far from routine. A former editor, crime writer, and investigative reporter for The Houston Post, Mr. Self has written by about corruption in the Houston Police Department in the mid-70s, problems in the state’s prison system, covered major disasters and has written about politics and social reform.
He coordinated implementation of Memorial Hermann Hospital’s highly successful Life Flight emergency helicopter transport system in 1976. He then served as the National Marketing Manager for the healthcare division of Rocky Mountain Helicopters and directed sales and implementation for 15 hospital-based programs from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh, Jacksonville to Portland.
For more than seven years Mr. Self was the chief business development officer for a health system owned hospital management company, leading sales and due diligence for the management contacting division. He also served as interim CEO for several community hospitals.
As a Managing Director of CitiHealth, a Houston based consultancy, he directed the turnaround of a regional hospital system-based home infusion therapy pharmacy and successfully directed lobbying and governmental affairs for the largest private EMS provider in the state of Texas. During his tenure as the Executive Director of this EMS system that served 14 counties and responded to more than 40,000 annual calls, the Texas Department of Health designated the organization as Private Provider of the Year.
