As healthcare leaders ponder their life in a population health management environment, they must also consider how they can be truly effective if their leadership teams do not reflect the populations they serve.  That is an important question that healthcare diversity thought Fred Hobby says should be asked.

Since 2012 the number of diversity executives in the executive offices of hospitals across America has declined, said Mr. Hobby,  Fred Hobbythe former President of the Institute for Diversity in Healthcare Management.  While this will not automatically spell disaster, it will limit an organization’s ability to maximize their effectiveness.  Understanding  the cultural nuances of various ethnic and racial groups will be very beneficial, he argues.

What is more surprising that although employment diversity is still a key issue for many healthcare organizations, the 2012 declines have yet to recover.

In today’s broadcast, Mr. Hobby discusses this and other important issues.
