In customer service, the phrase “moment of truth” refers to that initial contact, that first few seconds of interaction – with the service adviser at a car dealership, the nurse arriving at the bedside, a flight attendant greeting passengers; that initial impression we form usually sets the course.

That is why your first interaction with a recruiter, or prospective employer, is so critical – from the moment you answer the phone to how you look when your face first appears in a video interview or as you enter the office for a face-to-face interview for your future boss.

The old saying, “life happens,” is not acceptable for that vital “moment of truth.”
