In the world of career coaching, everyone has their techniques they use to inspire success.  I am in that group, but first, let me share one technique that several coaches say that works. Strike a pose!

This leads me to this story.  One day, when I worked for a regional health system, I dashed into the executive toilet to powder my nose.  Standing in front of the full-length mirror was a well-dressed man, hands on his hips, his legs spread wide, back straight, head held high. Later in the morning, I learned he was an applicant for one of our open management positions.

Years later I read that striking a positive, super-hero-like pose for two minutes gives you a sense of power and confidence.

Years later I read that striking a positive, super-hero-like pose for two minutes gives you a sense of power and confidence.  The Rocky Balboa, legs-spread-wide two-hands-held-high-above-your-head is another pose, if held two minutes, is designed to instill confidence.

Ok, that gimmick may work but only if you are professionally dressed, you have done your homework and rehearsed. And that is my technique to inspire success.
