Your Legacy

Posted July 17th, 2013 | Author: John G. Self

In healthcare, with very bumpy roads ahead of us, executives will be forced, finally, to marry their talk,  the posters on their walls, and their walk – that their people, the talent that make a hospital a success or a failure, must be our most important asset.

We have said this for years but now it is time to head to the altar.

The problem with big systems – with industry consolidation the big systems are getting bigger – is that CEOs are so busy working to ensure the kingdom they have built survives, that they fail to slow down to reconnect with this important principle:  that our people will make the difference in whether or not an organization succeeds or fails.  Failure means that a CEO’s life’s work becomes revenue for the cut-it-to-the bone turnaround firms.

Healthcare CEOs, is that the legacy you want to leave behind?
