A special hospital, one of the highest rated Critical Access facilities in America, was seeking a special leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer. JohnGSelf + Partners was retained to represent the Board of Directors to identify, screen and recruit candidates for this position.
Our client is located in the western Hill Country of Texas, 2.5 hours northwest of San Antonio and one south of San Angelo which offers direct commuter jet service to the DFW International Airport. This tax-supported hospital enjoys overwhelming community support and is financially secure. The community offers highly rates schools, a low crime rate and a quality of life that reflects the best of life in the 1950s-60s.
The hospital has an impressive array of diagnostic services, including a state-of-the-art MRI, a 64-slice CT scan, a full service lab, rehabilitation, and a wellness and health center with a full job and indoor swimming pool. There are 12 inpatient beds. The local medical staff is comprised of four primary care physicians and three mid-level practitioners.
The ideal candidate was to have 10 years of experience in healthcare management, five years as a CEO, COO or similar position with a verifiable record of accomplishment as a leader who respects customers, values employees and places patients above personal career goals. We were seeking a candidate with current knowledge of healthcare reform, preferably in a Critical Access Hospital setting, as evidenced by quantifiable achievements in quality of care, safety, financial performance and has the respect of physicians and employees.
