Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer

Location: Harrisburg, PA

JohnGSelf + Partners is pleased to announce that it has been engaged by PinnacleHealth, central Pennsylvania’s health system, to conduct a national search for a Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer of the System, the Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer will be responsible for medical staff department chairs, surgical and medical specialties, neurosciences, maternal-fetal medicine, osteopathic medical education, continuing medical education, library services and clinical research.  Reporting to the Senior Vice President will be an Associate Vice President as well as the Vice President for Hospital-Based Medicine.

This healthcare network includes four campuses as well as medical services such as family practice, imaging, outpatient surgery and oncology at multiple locations throughout the region.  It is one of the top-performing hospitals in Pennsylvania both clinically and financially.

The ideal candidate will hold an MD or DO degree, have between five to 10 years of experience in a medical staff leadership position and show progressive responsibility in a similarly complex environment.  The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of relevant accomplishments in administrative duties.  A Master’s degree in business administration or healthcare management is strongly preferred.  The ideal candidate will have a depth and breadth of understanding of healthcare finance, the healthcare delivery system, operational activities and facilities management.

Our client would prefer a physician who, earlier in their career, has had experience as a respected private practitioner with board certification in his/her field of clinical expertise.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills are essential.  This position will routinely communicate with the senior leadership team, physician colleagues, staff, regulatory agencies and community organizations.
